I run a business called Fabric Dragon. http://www.fabricdragon.com It is named that because my husband claimed I was "hoarding" fabric. Fabric Dragon started as a business selling costuming (garb) to the SCA and other re-enactors, but has since changed into a supplier of yarn, spinning supplies, fabric, embroidery supplies (silk thread, yum!), beads, jewelry, pearls, trim and whatever else happens by.
since i cannot update my own webpage, most of my beads and jewelry are slowly migrating onto my Etsy page: http://www.etsy.com/shop/fabricdragon. Please feel free to help me publicize my work!
I am into any craft that holds still long enough. I knit, sew, embroider, spin, weave, dye, paint, make miniatures, decorate, and more. I didn't say that I do it all well, but I do it...
I make twine knotted Rosaries to give away. You can learn how to do it too at : http://www.rosaryarmy.com
I participate in BookCrossing at http://www.bookcrossing.com under the user name fabric-Dragon (my Live Journal user name was already taken, so i added a dash) and on the bookcrossing Live Journal community. Register a book, set it free, and watch as it travels the world making new friends......
I am active in the SCA, Science Fiction Fandom, the Pagan community,The Catholic community, Rosary groups, BTW, Pet Owner advocacy and education groups, Craft, Sewing, and Spinning Guilds, and more.
I also post in my other Live Journal as "Thorninthefoot". Thorn in the foot is my mad science persona, rant, snark, politics, and generally no holds barred journal. so you don't find knitting patterns over in Thorninthefoot, but that way you dont get my snarkiest posts over here, ok?mostly.. usually...
Stupid Medical Stuff: I have various medical issues, most of which are irrelevant, but if you really want to know: I am hypoglycemic, and have Reynaud's Syndrome (there are LJ lists for it). I have a family history of Rheumatoid Arthritis, and i have Osteo Arthritis in both knees and a few other joints. I have a prior history of seizures, nerve damage from a car accident, and head trauma (same car accident). I was recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I have some minor heart ailments.
I also have allergies... lots of them, although only a few are serious and one is lethal. i have a very high threat history of heat exhaustion, and have been hospitalized repeatedly for it. Mostly it is nuisance level stuff. oh yes.. and social anxiety and panic attacks and PTSD and ...shrug. ask me if you want to know, i am NOT shy about talking.
I have learning disabilities that pre-date the head trauma issues. i finally got diagnosed, many years after the High School diagnosis of "some kind of problem" with Dyscalculia and Perceptual and spatial issues. In other words, do not give me verbal lists, i hyperventilate at algebra problems, and i have the worst eye hand co-ordination you have ever seen. (EDITED TO ADD: yes and i have recently gone back to school for a BS in Fashion Design.)
My dad and brother are both deaf, and my mom worked with the multiply handicapped, so I grew up around disabilities and the whole legal rights challenge thing. Dad has a service dog. Feel free to ask me about it.
UPDATE: i am now getting my own service dog! Her name is Bella, and she is a BIG dog with BIG vet bills who will be getting a lot of not inexpensive training before she is all graduated as my service dog. you may chip in if you wish here:
Thanks to my medical issues, my families' issues, and my friends medical issues, I totally speak disability and allergy! If you need to know how to work around a medical issue, allergy, or whatever... talk to me! I also savvy religious dietary rules, Vegan and more.....
